Job Title: Administrative Senior Support Officer (maternity cover)- Public Health
Location: Farnham House, Stevenage (with travel to other bases e.g. County Hall)
Salary Range: £20,344 - £24,799 pa Grade H5 – H6 dependent upon experience
Hours: Full Time 37 hours a week
Contract: Fixed term or secondment – until 31st January 2021
The Public Health team commissions a wide range of services to improve the health of Hertfordshire residents including weight management, sexual health services, NHS Health Checks, health improvement for children and young people, and health protection. We are looking for a highly motivated senior support officer to join our busy administration team.
Under the guidance of the Business Officer you will provide administrative support across the Public Health Department with a particular focus on the administration of commissioned contracts. Each day will offer you a varied workload, supporting the wider team on various projects.
You will support the Business Officer to provide a first-rate service, demonstrating a flexible and adaptable approach to the work to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard and that deadlines are met.
Skills and Experience
There are no specific qualifications required for this role but previous administrative experience is essential, as is a can-do attitude and the ability to work as part of a close knit team.
You will be capable and comfortable to be the first point of contact within the Public Health Department. As you will be dealing with a wide variety of people at all levels, a professional and approachable manner is vital as are strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
You will be highly motivated, able to use your initiative when appropriate, and have a proven track record of working effectively in busy administration roles. You will have the flexibility to work on a variety of different tasks at any one time, prioritising your work and managing tight deadlines. Patience, precision and accuracy will be important requirements.
You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to learn to use new IT systems and equipment quickly and easily.
This position is available as a Fixed Term Contract until 31st January 2021 or as a secondment for existing staff offering an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to gain valuable experience as a Senior Support Officer. This role has an emphasis on data checking so good Excel skills are key.
