About the role
This position is for a Senior Professional Engineer to work within the shared service of Kingston and Sutton Council on the Cycleways Schemes based in Sutton, ensuring all designs are consistent with the London Cycling Design Standards (LCDS) and industry best practice.
Producing CAD designs for the delivery of Cycleways schemes both on and off the public highway, ensuring that all statutory regulations and best practice guidance is incorporated into scheme designs at every stage of their development. Eg TSRGD, LCDS. This includes concept and detailed design stages. To work with colleagues in the Strategy team to produce high level and detailed cost estimates for schemes as they progress from concept to detailed design and delivery.
Engage with all relevant internal and external stakeholders at the appropriate stages of the project to ensure smooth and collaborative delivery of the project.
To provide technical guidance and support to the Quietways Project Manager and Team Leader for the Design Team and other ad hoc requests from other teams within the Transportation service area.
Keep abreast of local, regional and national developments in regulations and best practice guidance relevant to the development of infrastructure schemes on and off the public highway.
To provide Designer responses for the schemes the post holder has designed through multiple design review processes. This will include sponsor review comments from TfL, road safety audit responses, internal design reviews and others as required.
Provide information and advice as required to Elected Members and Committees on engineering elements of strategic transport matters, on implementation programmes and the impact of regional, national, European trends, policies, constraints and requirements.
Support and service Member level Transportation liaison bodies and Strategic partnership Groups as required. Support the development of consultation programmes with residents and users of the schemes developed by other members of the Transport Strategy Team.
