Wirral Council's Trading Standards Service has recently undertaken a restructure of the Service to deliver a highly efficient service that is customer focused and prides itself on continual improvement.
We are looking for a suitably qualified Trading Standards Officer who is enthusiastic about change, ambitious, accountable and customer focused. You must be willing to adapt to new challenges as the service evolves to meet changing customer and service demands.
You will work within a generic team carrying out inspections, surveys and investigations into complex and serious breaches of trading standards legislation. Identify legal contraventions and select, recommend and execute appropriate enforcement activity based on assessed risk. The post holder will have sole responsibility for undertaking this work and the duties will include presenting solutions to bring a resolution to complex issues. Applicants must have recent enforcement experience and competency in metrology and food standards regulation is essential. The post is a full time 36 hours per week. The candidate must have a good absence record and be willing to work outside of normal office hours.
The post holder will be required to comply with the training, qualifications and competence requirements and they must hold one of the following qualifications;
Professional CTSI qualification Diploma in Trading Standards or Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) or Higher Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (HDCATS) with Metrology and Food Modules or equivalent and a university degree.
