An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wirral Council's Early Childhood Services SEND team, in the role of Early Years SEND Officer. The role is pivotal to the Council delivering its duties within the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 2014 Reforms and related Childrens Acts.
You will have a high level of knowledge in Child Development, particularly in early communication and language. You will empower practitioners in identifying additional needs of children under 5 years, adopting an "assess, plan, do, review' approach. You will promote a Graduated approach for addressing children's needs with a range of professionals. You will support the development of Individual Educational Plans in childcare settings and with childminders. You will be an effective communicator and have a depth of knowledge in working with agencies and be Professional and respect the child/parent voice.
You will develop and deliver SEND training and foster opportunities for continued professional development of practitioners.
You will co-ordinate and nurture smooth transitions into education, ensuring the aspirations of the child and parent/carer are understood.
You will be educated to degree level in related subjects; early years education, SEND, teaching, health or social care.
As a desirable you will hold either EYP/QTS status or PGCE in associated field.
