More about the role:
If you would like a challenging role in a busy team, where no two days are the same then this may be the job for you. Our work is fast-paced and reactive; things need to happen quickly and the unexpected often occurs. Find your greatness playing an integral role in the Albion Archaeology team.
Albion Archaeology is a trading unit of Central Bedfordshire Council employing 45-50 archaeologists working on commercial projects across the region and on occasions further afield. You will be based at our office, St Mary’s Church Bedford (a grade 1 listed building parts of which date to the 10th century).
The Business Support Officer is a key role ensuring the smooth running and continued improvement of our office systems, assisting with the management of our premises and providing a varied range of support to our projects and the management team. You will also be expected to turn your hand to anything that needs doing, including a range of general administrative tasks. You will also be responsible for maintaining office health and safety and will be expected to take on duties as fire marshal.
We are looking for a good communicator (verbal and written) with excellent ‘people’ skills and a confident telephone manner. You will work with limited supervision, using you own initiative and a range of problem solving skills to reach solutions. Organised and efficient, you should be prepared to juggle a number of tasks to meet tight deadlines. You will be competent in the use of Word and Excel, ideally with experience of using databases.
Knowledge of archaeology is not essential although an interest in the subject and some understanding of industries associated with construction would be helpful. We would also expect you to have had experience of at least some aspects of administering a busy office from a financial, HR or procurement perspective.
Our office is open from before 7am to 5:30pm, which means our working hours can be reasonably flexible. This is being advertised as a full time, permanent role, although we might be able to consider some reduction in weekly hours if required.
To apply for this role, you will be expected to demonstrate how you meet the key accountabilities and competencies detailed within this Recruitment Pack: Business Support Officer Recruitment Pack
