The Role

At Camden Council we want to make Camden a better borough – a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind. Together, we want to create a place that works for everyone, where everybody has a voice and this role is critical to delivering our ambition.

We’re seeking a talented Diversity and Inclusion Programme Lead to help us progress our ambitious inclusion agenda. In Camden we have a long history of championing diversity and inclusion for the borough as well as for those who work for the Council. You will take a forward thinking approach and work with our Director of People and Inclusion, and the HR and OD service to develop an innovative approach to increasing diversity and creating conscious inclusion across Camden Council.

You will drive forward solutions to our challenges, including developing possible positive action and ways to mitigate barriers for more sustainable change. You’ll also manage a range of complex programmes to ensure their successful delivery, taking personal responsibility for their direction and delivery. The successful candidate will also work in a variety of environments across the whole organisation to deliver our ambitions along with championing our approach to inclusion across the organisation.

About you

You’ll have a qualification in a recognised discipline or equivalent experience to fulfil the requirements of this post. Expert knowledge of the field of diversity and inclusion policy, trends and action is also essential.

Substantial experience of providing thought leadership, strategic direction and implementation of activity and ability to implement and manage large programmes of work is key to the role.

You won’t be afraid to challenge perceptions when it comes to inclusion, at every level and you’ll be able to use data, evidence and research to inform activity, decision-making and challenge to the status quo as appropriate.

Your expert stakeholder management skills will mean you are able to develop and maintain relationships at senior levels across the organisation, with elected members as appropriate, Unions, staff groups, partner organisations, and citizens as needed and directed by the work.

As is your strong verbal, written communication skills.

You’ll also be working in a fast paced environment, with constant conflicting priorities so understanding the organisation’s direction of travel and ambitions for the next 3-5 years, including knowledge of the political and economic environment the Council is operating within is crucial to the role. Alongside this, your dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and commitment to continuous learning will mean you are able to work collaboratively at all levels across the organisation in order to drive improvement.

This is a great opportunity for the right individual. For more information, please refer to the job profile.
