Major Schemes Officer

Initial 2 Year Contract with potential to extend
We are not your average local authority planning department. We are a forward thinking, innovative, and fun team; offering a great working environment, a wide range of projects, and career development opportunities. Don’t just take our word for it though…we won the LGC Best Housing Initiative Award 2019 earlier this year, and have previously been Highly Commended by the RTPI in the Planning Team of the Year category.
We have experience of, and continue to deal with, a comprehensive range of applications and development types including a new 4250 home community currently under construction, and the largest retail development in the Country has recently started on site. Also, Blaby District Council is one of only 19 local authorities in the Country to have recently been granted Garden Village status by the government for the potential future development of Whetstone Pastures in the south-east of the District.
We have a Strategic Projects Team to take forward new large scale infrastructure, commercial and residential proposals. We are looking for a Major Schemes Officer to lead and effectively manage complex projects, major planning applications and associated matters under the guidance of the Strategic Growth Manager and Planning & Economic Development Group Manager.
You won’t find a typical planning team approach with us…we are positive, customer focussed, and passionate about creating a great place to live, work and visit.
In addition to a Local Government Pension Scheme; we also offer fully flexible working hours and working from home, free parking, a car allowance and access to staff benefits and discounts.
For an informal discussion about this post please contact Louise Hryniw, Strategic Growth Manager, on 0116 272 7519.
Blaby District Council want their workforce to reflect the make up the community we serve, and we therefore welcome applications irrespective of gender, ethnic origin, religion, belief, sexual orientation, age or disability. In addition BDC is committed to interviewing all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria.
