About the role

Surrey's Children's Services has started its journey of improvement and has a clear focus to work with our partners to support children, young people and families early to prevent crises and improve their outcomes.
Following a re-organisation of teams to ensure we have the right teams focussed on the right work, we have a management vacancy in our Children's Information Governance team. We are looking to recruit an experienced manager with experience of working in a Local Authority Information Governance team. We are looking for a team player who has excellent Information Governance knowledge and experience, who has innovative ideas on how to apply this to a large Children's Services team.
The Information Governance team, sits within the Customer Engagement Service and will operate within the parameters of a broad spectrum of Information Governance legislation and guidance. The role liaises on a regular basis with Legal Services, Communication Services and the Information Technology team, as well as external bodies such as the Information Commissioners Officer and central and local government agencies. It is responsible for informing the Information Commissioner of Data Protection breaches and leads day to day relationships with the Information Commission. The role holder will work with partner agencies, such as Police, Health and schools in the execution of their duties. The manager is responsible for a team of Information Governance Officers, Records Assistants and Paralegals.
