Advanced Social Worker - Deputy AMHP Lead

We are seeking to appoint an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) at ‘advanced’ grade (£43,590 - £45,585) to work in Croydon’s AMHP service in an AMHP only role to work with the AMHP Lead in supporting the team of care coordinators who contribute to the centralised rota. This AMHP only role does not include care coordination but will involve contributing to both the work of the day time AMHP rota and supporting the work of the Out of Hours (OOH) AMHP Service. We currently have 16 AMHPs in care coordinator roles who work one week in four covering AMHP Duty from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday and a team of dedicated OOH AMHPs who cover from 5pm – 9am Monday to Thursday and 5pm Friday to 9am on Monday. Your role will be to work flexibly to support staff and undertake assessments, which may at times include early morning or evening assessments.

You must have experience of community adult mental health work and be able to bring a strong social care perspective and social work value base to the role. You will be expected to have excellent assessment and risk management skills. You will promote social inclusion and recovery principles in your work with service users and carers. You will thrive in working with people from diverse backgrounds and be able to promote equality of access to service and outcomes. You will be required to drive and a compulsory car allowance is available in addition to the salary along with a 20% enhancement for any hours worked after 8pm. You will be expected to support the team leader with quality assurance and be able to provide leadership in relevant areas of service delivery, including deputising for the AMHP Lead at meetings and in their absence. An understanding of excel and the ability to generate activity reports and duty rotas would be an advantage.
