About the Post:
Are you an experienced and qualified trainer, comfortable with delivering learning with a digital focus?
This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in making big changes happen. At Barnsley, we’re shaping a bright new future for our council and our communities and as part of our team, you’ll help us to bring our people with us on the road to growth, transformation and improvement. What’s more, you’ll play a key role in ensuring everyone is fully trained to play a part in shaping our future.
Creativity, ambition and a focus on people. That’s what matters at Barnsley Council.
Shape a better future with us
Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.
Your role in our journey
In this role you’ll develop, plan and deliver learning and development activities. This could include training courses, briefing sessions, presentations, events and e-learning. Primarily this will be to support our roll out of Office 365 but will also ensure our organisation’s digital development is fit for purpose and effective. You’ll proactively liaise, negotiate and collaborate with people across and external to the council. Crucially, you will use feedback and data to evaluate learning and development activities, identifying improvements and ensuring value for money.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a Level 4 Diploma in an area relevant to the role and a Level 3 qualification in training, teaching or learning and development. You will bring to the role experience in the development, design, delivery and evaluation of training. With highly developed communication skills, you will have experience of providing individuals with professional advice and guidance, and delivering formal presentations to a wide range of audiences.
We want to make our current training offer more engaging and innovative using the latest technologies, with this post being integral to that change. This post will have a digital focus, and we want someone with a creative mind, who is up for the challenge and willing to develop their skills and knowledge whilst helping others to do the same.
A lot to look forward to
Our award-winning council is on an exciting journey of change. It’s all about putting local people at the heart of everything, listening to and doing the best for our communities. We’re now more innovative, more efficient and provide better value for money. Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we’ll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent and enable you to achieve your potential. We’ve created a development process that lets you grow in the way that suits you - whether that’s training to be a leader, or learning flexibly online. That’s one of the reasons why we are so proud to have achieved IiP Gold, and why you’ll find your career here inspiring and rewarding.
