£21,987 actual salary per annum for 36 hours per week, across 42 weeks of the year. The role is term time, plus an additional 15 days per year. You will have a Surrey base and work in schools.

About the role
Our school-based SLT service is expanding! We are innovative, supportive, and outcome-focused, with excellent supervision and CPD opportunities in our large team, and have a new post for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with at least 2 years' experience to join our team of therapists and assistants in the North West of Surrey. As well as working with children and young people under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist you will have a role in the development and support of new or less experienced assistants in the team and take part in project work.
The School-Aged Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of Surrey County Council's local SEND offer, working collaboratively in the Vulnerable Learners team in Surrey Children, Schools and Families Directorate, with other teams like educational psychology, and specialist teachers.
We aim to deliver the right support at the right time, through assessment and intervention, and equipping families and professionals with the skills and resources to work together to help and support children with SLCN. We follow the Balance model to offer universal, targeted and specialist support for children, families, and the school workforce, and work with children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plan) and those at SEN (Special Education Needs) support.
This is a great opportunity to work across a mix of school settings in the North West (Woking, Runnymede, Surrey Heath) team. You will be working with an existing team in a Special School or Specialist centre and also in some of our mainstream schools. Your base would beQuadrant Court, 35 Guildford Road, Woking GU22 7QQ.
Your main duties in the role of Senior Speech and Language Therapist will include but not be limited to:
- Working individually with a child/ young person within the school
- Modelling strategies to class teachers/ teaching assistants
- Working with a small group
- Making resources for the therapy team
- Offering shadowing opportunities and peer support to less experienced SLTAs
- Leading assistant meetings
- Contributing to project work to develop the team
