Halton Borough Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Head of Safeguarding to manage the safeguarding unit on behalf of the three key partners, Halton Borough Council, NHS Halton CCG & Cheshire Police. You will oversee the safeguarding unit which undertakes child protection, children in care and LADO functions and also manage the Safeguarding Partnership (which has replaced the LSCB) to ensure that there is a safe and effective partnership response to safeguarding in Halton.
This is a key leadership role in which you will provide structure, reports and evidence that demonstrate the effectiveness of the arrangements in safeguarding children and young people. You will have extensive and detailed knowledge of children’s services and an understanding of the legislative and statutory obligations relevant to such services.
With a proven track record in managing high quality, responsive and efficient services, you will have strong leadership skills and a clear vision that you are able to share, motivate and inspire others to adopt.
You will have leadership and managerial experience in relation to staff, financial management and implementing changes. Successfully using resources to work together in identifying and delivering a range of services to meet the community’s needs.
As the head of safeguarding service you will be authoritative in your advice and be able to analyse complex information and make judgements under pressure. You will be able to think laterally at both a strategic and middle management level or above, with highly developed communication and influencing skills.
Be responsible for developing new ways of working and identify opportunities to co-locate services that reduces duplication and improves practice and outcomes.
A high level of experience in successfully managing a large or diverse budget securing financial efficiencies wherever possible.
You will form and maintain appropriate relationships to the most vulnerable children and adults and have an understanding of the relevant legislation, guidance and procedures relating to all aspects of the service.
