Role Purpose

The Council has a 2022 blueprint forsuccess and a programme of transformation activities to get us there; includinga new civic centre, digital by default, service redesign and the development ofour organisational culture. The structure and delivery of the Human Resourcesservice has been reviewed to ensure that the organisation and our people aresupported, developed and engaged throughout this change. A number of new roleshave been created to lead these developments and support new ways of working acrossthe Council.

In May 2017 the government imposed anapprenticeship levy on large employers with an annual payroll of more than £3m.This has led to major reforms within apprenticeships and has given employersgreater flexibility and opportunities to target skills shortage roles and staffupskilling within the organisation.

We are now looking to recruit anApprenticeship Levy Officer who will be responsible for commissioning andprocuring of approved training providers to deliver various apprenticeshipsacross the organisation. They will support the Apprenticeship Levy Manger tosource quality provision, maximise the levy spend and monitor progress ofapprentices and training providers.



Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for draftingthe specification and procurement of approved training providers via thecouncils Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), liaising with internal and externalstakeholders.

Carryout quality assurance and evaluation of tenders received as part of the bid.

Youwill monitor the quality of training provision and contracts. Liaise withapprentices to gather feedback and carry out data collection, evaluationexercises.

Work alongside the ApprenticeshipLevy Manager and other LOCD Practitioners to promote apprenticeships across theorganisation and in schools.



Requirements

Strong written/oral communication andnumeracy skills

Knowledge of councils financialprocesses and systems in particular to DPS

Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel)

Up to date knowledgeof apprenticeships and opportunities available across the council and schools
