About the role
We have two exciting opportunities for Legal Practice Support Officers to join our friendly and fast moving team. The Practice Support Officer will be responsible for ensuring that financial processes within Legal Services and the wider council are followed. The Practice Support Officer will also be responsible for maintaining information databases and being a guardian for our case management system, Prescient Plus.
The post holder will be expected to meet strict deadlines, therefore ability to cope under pressure is essential. The post holder will also be expected to provide secretarial support to lawyers e.g. preparing reports, creating and amending documents and answering telephone calls. Other duties include administration work with regards to loaning and return of the county's deeds and legal library subscriptions.
You will be responsible for opening files for lawyers and the physical retrieval and archiving of such files. Access to files are located on different levels within County Hall. You will be required to organise, locate, retrieve, and lift such materials and climb stepladders to access these.
This role is situated in a busy open plan office and therefore this role requires you to work cooperatively as part of a team to deliver a seamless business support and provide an administrative service to more than 50 lawyers in legal services including clients from other departments within Surrey County Council.
The post is situated in a sensitive and confidential legal environment and requires exceptional organisational and IT skills, the ability to prioritise work and to clear focus on meeting deadlines. The post holder will be expected to make straightforward decisions relating to their role.
