Cello Teacher at Highbury Fields School

Salary grade: £26.65 per hour (Point 38, on NJC payscale PO4)

Contract: Casual - Term Time Only

Start date: As soon as possible

Highbury Fields School is a flourishing, high performing all girls’ state school which was graded as Outstanding in October 2016. It is also in the top 5% of schools in the country in terms of student progress. The school provides all of our students with the excellent standard of education that they deserve.

We are seeking a gifted cello teacher to join our experienced music peripatetic team to teach individual music lessons to pupils. At present there is approximately half a day’s teaching on offer, but we would hope to extend this.

Music is at the heart of the school with numerous opportunities for students to come together to make music and perform. There are a large number of bands and ensembles including the Highbury Fields Big Band, Choir, String Quartet, Close Harmony Group and Rock Bands. Students are introduced to and perform an extended and varied repertoire and this is reflected in the termly full school concerts. Our musicians are well known within the local community and are invited to perform at events, including Holocaust Memorial Day.

There are also several clubs at lunch-time and after school where students enjoy making music in less formal ways. These are very popular.

Highbury Fields is a school where high expectations and ambition are embedded within our school culture. This is a supportive environment where teachers are able to work with motivated and hard-working students. If you believe, like we do, that every child can achieve excellence, then we look forward to receiving your application.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an excellent teacher
  • Be highly ambitious for all students
  • Be a team player
  • Be willing to contribute to the whole school ethos

Closing date for applications: 9:00am,  Friday 13th September 2019
