Oxfordshire's authorities are collectively amongst the best in England for waste and recycling, and we want to be even better in the future. We have collectively signed up to the Oxfordshire Resources and Waste Strategy 2018-2023 (our Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy).
With the county facing significant housing and economic growth, climate emergencies having been declared by many authorities, we want to develop a truly low carbon and circular economy. This is a role with considerable opportunities to influence change both within the county and nationally.
We are looking for a natural collaborator, with a track record in delivering through partnerships to help us work together to achieve our challenging targets to improve our recycling rates, keep waste per person low, and send as little to landfill as possible.
Oxfordshire Resources and Waste Partnership represents both the Waste Disposal Authority and the Waste Collection Authorities in Oxfordshire, including Oxford City Council, four District Councils and Oxfordshire County Council. The Resources and Waste Strategy for Oxfordshire sets out how the Council's will work together to deliver sustainable waste management services. It runs from 2018-2023.The role will be employed through Oxfordshire County Council and hosted by Oxford City Council, and is currently offered on a fixed-term until December 2023, to run alongside the Resources and Waste Strategy, with opportunities to review and an aspiration for the role to become permanent.
