Havering Adult College are now looking to recruit to our history provision and are seeking sessional part-time History teachers. Courses are predominantly daytimes or Saturdays during term time and delivered once a week.

|Elizabeth I’s England Part 3: Invasion|
|Native Americans: Famous names and events|
|Native Americans: The Battle of the Greasy Grass|
|Kings and Queens of Britain|
Part Time Sessional Teacher - History
The successful candidate will deliver a range of History courses, currently all non-accredited.
You will prepare and deliver teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of the learners and the service. You will support the learners during the course and help them develop their skills.
The course is planned to run once a week, but there is also scope to offer more teaching depending on your skills, qualifications and availability.
The hourly rate of pay for this course starts at £20 and includes planning and marking where required. Holiday pay is included within the hourly rate.
You will support the learners throughout their learning programme, ensuring assessment records are kept up-to-date, targets are met and meaningful feedback is provided.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of Equality and Diversity, and an appreciation of the requirements of teachers under the Safeguarding of Children & Vulnerable Adults regulations.

Although it would be desirable to hold a SVUK endorsed Level 4 Teaching Qualification for post-compulsory settings and an Assessor Certificate (Level 3), consideration will be given to applicants who do not hold, but are willing to gain, their Teaching Qualification and Assessor Certificate, if successful. Details of this can be discussed at interview.”
Successful candidates should hold:
- GCSE A*-C English and maths qualifications (or equivalent)
- A qualification in the subject (or relevant experience) appropriate to the Level(s) of the course(s) advertised here
The successful applicants will be responsible for planning and delivering the courses, as well as their own travel to and from the delivery centres.
You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and have extensive knowledge and skills related to the area(s) of teaching and the ability to research, produce and use teaching resources to maintain high standards of learning in different environments including the use of e-learning. It is also essential that you have a desire to develop and use new methods of teaching and learning to engage and motivate your learners.
In line with national priorities, you will also be expected to support and develop your learners’ English and maths skills.
