An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Homeless Prevention Team for a Homeless Prevention Assistant.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with experience of homelessness prevention or related work e.g. advice/welfare benefits. You will need to have strong communication and administrative skills and the ability to work closely with colleagues, other departments and statutory and voluntary agencies to provide an effective prevention focused service for homeless applicants, many of whom have multiple vulnerabilities and support needs.
The role is customer facing, carrying out interviews and housing assessments with clients who are homeless or who are threatened with homelessness, and then helping them to resolve their housing issue or to help them find suitable alternative housing.
You will be able to manage a caseload, understand relevant housing legislation and most of all you must be committed to and have a clear understanding of the need for early intervention in a range of household problems that have the potential to cause a housing crisis.
