Assistant Surveyor (Property Development)

£23,522 - £26,539 inclusive of Outer Fringe Allowance

We are looking for an ambitious, motivated and driven individual to join our high performing Estates & Development Team at an exciting time. Welwyn Hatfield is looking ahead and is adapting to continue to be at the forefront of best practice and to be financially self-sustainable.
Reporting to the Team Leader (Property Development) and forming an integral part of the Council’s Estates & Development Team your role will be to support a team of Surveyors who lead designated major schemes, these range from Town Centre mixed use regeneration schemes to leisure projects. The development pipeline extends to 2023/24 and beyond.
In 2018/19 the Council’s investment in Hatfield Town Centre has been recognised on a national level by reaching the finals for the Local Government Chronicle Awards, The Planner Awards and The MJ Local Government Awards. The Council was the first to secure £10.6m funding from the Homes England Accelerated Construction programme.
The role is extremely varied and will cover a range of support duties to the Property Development Team. This will include managing diaries and emails, gatekeeping when needed and dealing with queries; Supporting with any general administration and support work as needed; Developing, maintaining and reviewing electronic and hard copy organisational systems (i.e. filing, pending, action, follow-up systems); Arranging, preparing and attending meetings, ensuring that minutes, papers and agenda are prepared and circulated, taking minutes and monitoring follow up action as required; and Creating and updating spreadsheets.
It is essential that you have an interest in the property environment and experience of working in both public and private sector is desirable but not essential. The role will require responding to adhoc requests and working to tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will need to be effective at prioritising tasks and set own work load as well as the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
