Growing a place of opportunity and ambition
At Slough Borough Council we have created a new directorate of adults and communities as part of a redesign of our corporate management arrangements and operating model. Within this is the new role of service lead: commissioning and transformation, a key post which forms part of the directorate’s senior management team, and the corporate senior leadership team. The new role encompasses the commissioning and transformation functions relating primarily to adult social care and public health.
The successful applicant will manage a service of 30 people within four teams: prevention and wellbeing; business transformation; supplier relationship management; and strategy and partnerships. Responsibilities cover the development and implementation of key strategic and operational activity to support our asset based approach to social care, including health integration and the management of relationships with suppliers and residents.
The aim is to oversee service and process design to ensure the best configuration of service and to achieve better outcomes and quality delivery for Slough residents. The key challenges ahead are to ensure the voice of local residents is embedded in our processes, and to develop a more co-productive approach to commissioning. The successful applicant will also play a key role in supporting our involvement in the local Sustainability and Transformation Partnership and the development of an integrated care system.
The postholder will need to be a strong and ambitious leader, able to manage and motivate people as well as work effectively with partners and being able to support other business areas across the council. We would expect a manager at this level to have previous strategic experience of commissioning and business transformation, with a good understanding of how to achieve value for money from contracted services.
Evidence of successfully delivering across key strategic objectives and priorities, and living the organisation’s values is essential.
