Permanent and two-year fixed term contracts available
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is fiercely ambitious, striving to make sure each and every one of our residents enjoys a quality life in London.
Effective Property and Asset Management is a key enabler of change and critical to the success of the council achieving its strategic aims. This is reflected through the service’s new structure being implemented by our new Director of Property and Asset Management.
To continue the service’s transformation, we are now recruiting to the new structure and are seeking forward-thinking and innovative professionals who’ll place Property and Asset Management at the heart of the council’s broader organisational change agenda.
Working on the Capital Delivery Team, an established professional programme and project management team leading on Education and Corporate capital schemes, you will play a critical part in the continued transformation of the council. The current ambitious capital budget for the council includes £40 million p.a. on sustaining our Education stock and providing future places, and a 5 year plan on corporate office, commercial and housing schemes in excess of £500 million.
In this key role as a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of significant construction projects with values up to £200 million from stage RIBA zero to Seven. The projects encompass schools, housing for sale and rent, and a programme to deliver the centralisation of our office functions at the Town Hall in Walthamstow
As the successful candidate you will be leading a team of internal and external consultants, and contracted builders, as such you will have both significant and relevant practical experience of infrastructure projects or other projects of a comparable level of complexity. Prince2 qualification would be advantageous.
Evidence of working with, supporting and influencing senior clients and stakeholders will also be essential.
Over the past few years, Waltham Forest has changed drastically as a place. Good schools, great parks, excellent culture facilities, mass regeneration and budding community entrepreneurship are making it a place that people want to call home.
Over that period of time, Waltham Forest as a council has also changed drastically, and despite the challenges of austerity, the organisation has seen its highest ever levels of resident satisfaction. As funding reductions continue, Waltham Forest is creating a council for the future.
