Our Transformation Service is our engine room for making change happen. We have recently established centres of excellence within the team focussed on design, delivery and Programme Management Office (PMO) bringing together the wide range of specialist skillsets required to help our organisation transform.

We have an ambitious programme of work ahead of us, set out in our Creating Futures programme which describes an exciting blueprint for all of our services across the Council. Our ambition is to establish a best-in-class Transformation function and offer, and we are looking for individuals who are keen to help us deliver change and help us grow and develop our function.

As a Programme Support Officer you will be a key agent in ensuring change happens in Waltham Forest. Part of our PMO Team, you will support project managers and service designers to help them design and deliver new ways of working – using a structured approach and ensure that we deliver lasting, impactful change.

We’re looking for individuals who are driven to improve public services. You should have experience of managing a mixed and varied workload of conflicting priorities, be responsive to the needs of all customers, be effective at planning, monitoring and reviewing, have good verbal and written communication skills and be numerate and accurate, with attention to detail.

But above all, it’s your excellent interpersonal skills that will help you stand out – we’re looking for someone with the ability to challenge how we work as an organisation in sensitive and constructive ways, bringing your own personality and view to what you are being asked to achieve.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is fiercely ambitious. We want to make sure each and every one of our residents enjoys a quality life in London.

Join our plans for growth

We have a hugely ambitious growth agenda and pride ourselves on being forward thinking and an organisation that sets high expectations. We are working with partners to secure investment in making our borough a better place, are progressing with plans to build 12,000 new homes by 2020, and have an ambitious £5million digital programme, with more investment to come.

Be part of the vision

Our aim is that every single Waltham Forest resident enjoys a good quality life. We have a no-nonsense approach to getting things done and are embarking on a new phase in our transformation where five key principles – Our Unique strengths, Return on Investment, People Focussed, New relationships and New ways of working – will underpin everything we do for our residents.

About the Corporate Development Directorate

We have recently formed a new Corporate Development Directorate creating a centre of excellence in order for the Council to deliver its ambition and to help build the Council of the future. We’re excited about the future for Waltham Forest, and for the Corporate Development Directorate and we are looking for driven, dynamic and forward thinking individuals who share our ambition for change.

Equal Opportunities

Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population.

We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace.

The Council is committed to meeting its 4 strategic outcomes contained within the Waltham Forest Council Equality Plan 2012/2015:
• Promoting equality of opportunity
• Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage
• Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels
• Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent services to all.

Respecting Diversity is a core Council value.
