The role
The Southwark Highways team is evolving, with exciting opportunities, new ways of working and a record of delivery. We're looking for an enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor to join the team to provide specialist advice on divisional commercial functions, including Quantity Surveying and advising on contractual issues. This role allows the Highways division to be commercially astute, efficiently resolve contractual issues and manage expenditure. The role ensures that services meet operational and functional requirements and provides advice in the key commercial service area.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and continuously improve service areas as a centre of best practice by proactively helping manage the commercial team’s portfolio to meet the objectives of the Council.
Work collaboratively with managers in other business units and divisions to ensure consistency of approach on financial and commercial aspects of contract and project management.
Provide insight and guidance on the management, letting and operational efficiencies of contracts in the delivery of the Highways programme to an annual value of around £5,000,000 and on multi-year contracts to a value of over £20,000,000.
