Leading the team that delivers a range of democratic services you will be at the heart of Council decision-making and elections. Your team will organise elections and referenda, produce the electoral register and support democratic decision-making. You will provide direction, advice, guidance and support to team members and support the Policy and Governance Manager who is responsible for the strategic direction of the team.
Ideally you will have experience of working in either Electoral Services or Democratic Services, or both.
We would expect you to have excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage others as well as responding to the political context and advising Councilors and senior officers. You should be able to cope well under pressure in high profile situations, manage competing demands and hit deadlines.
Knowledge of Xpress electoral management system and/or the Modern.gov committee management system is desirable, but training will be provided.
Applicants must be able to undertake evening work on a regular basis and at peak times and provide their own transport.
