Community Neighbourhoods are localised networks bringing together physical assets like libraries and community centres with social assets like volunteering and sports activities with the aim to increase people’s networks and participation. Community Neighbourhoods are at the heart of the Council’s vision for developing community resilience. By building the community infrastructure which enable residents to network, volunteer and be active, Community Neighbourhoods will be central to strengthening community cohesion and resilience. This is an exciting opportunity to be central to a new and innovative way of working in the London Borough of Newham.

Community Neighbourhoods Development Officer 12 Month Fixed Term Contract £30024.00
As part of the business support team, this highly versatile role will involve working across community neighbourhoods developing and delivering an improvement plan for libraries through the planning and delivery of projects, activities and events, provision of information and training and effective communication and marketing. It will require working closely with colleagues in the stock, performance and systems support teams in addition to providing operational support for frontline services

You will have a good understanding of public libraries and a genuine desire to enthuse our residents about the many benefits they offer. You will have experience of developing activities and events that increase awareness of and usage of library resources supporting the Universal offers. You will enjoy the opportunity to be creative, be able to influence both peers and senior managers whilst developing good working relationships with them, excellent time management skills and the flexibility to work in a variety of locations across the borough at short notice. You will have excellent IT skills including its application in a library setting, be confident in the use of social media and understand the importance of digital engagement with residents. Ideal post for someone who is self-motivated, works independently and as part of a team, wants to gain new skills and develop their knowledge whilst enjoying new challenges.
