About the role
Sacred Heart School are looking for an experienced HLTA to work across all year groups on a fixed term contract until August 2025.
Hours of work – Five days a week 8.40am-3.15pm. Total of 30.5 hours (includes break and lunch time duties).
The successful applicant will be expected to cover teaching with whole classes when the teacher is not available –due to PPA, training or other absence. The role will also involve working with small groups or individual children. The successful candidate will need to be flexible, working in response to the schools needs and be a good team player.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To cover and lead class teaching as and when required.
- Contribute to effective assessment and planning.
- Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to help the pupils achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy and procedures.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- An experienced Teaching Assistant with appropriate qualifications or experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.
- Has experience in working with children with significant SEND and behaviour needs.
- Is an excellent communicator and has a clear understanding of the expectations of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and their role in teaching children.
- Is able to show a commitment to the ethos and vision of our school.
- Preferably has experience of working in a range of settings in more than one year group.
Applicants must have:
- A good standard of education across a range of subjects.
- Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – at least equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English & Maths.
- Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes.
- Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation for schools including.
