An opportunity exists within the Fleet & Transport department for a Senior Fleet Workshop Officer to provide professional, workshop service management.
This is a full-time position working at the Council’s Bennet Road depot. Reporting directly to the Fleet and Transport Manager, you will be supporting all aspects of the workshop programme delivery, including establishing appropriate governance structures, policies procedures and risk assessment including effective contractor programme management.
About the Role
The post holder will ensure best practice and industry standards, to maintain legal compliance with the Operator’s Licence requirements and statutory obligations. Including Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) 100% Operator Compliance Risk Score (OCRS).
You will also support Fleet and Transport Services in managing the service level agreement through KPI reporting, continuous business improvement programmes and contractor management.
The key functions include:
- Workshop facility management.
- Workshop vendor management.
- Maintenance Contractor Management.
- Ensuring that all Council vehicles, plant, and equipment are maintained to exemplary standards and in accordance with statutory and legal requirements.
- Collate and maintain vehicle records and data bases.
- Manage the Councils Operator Licence and be a nominated CPC holder for the licence.
- To assist the Fleet and Transport Manager in driving efficiencies.
- To maintain a database of the Council’s vehicle assets.
- Produce the vehicle maintenance schedules for the Council departments.

About you
- In depth knowledge of contractor management, compliance to legal standards, Health Safety and management activities associated with the delivery of contractor based maintenance delivery.
- Develop, manage and co-ordinate the service and repair schedules.
- Demonstrate supervision of external contractors both scheduled and reactive maintenance.
- Good working relationships with organisations and the internal service teams, ensuring that fleet maintenance is carried out efficiently as possible.
- Demonstrate a familiarity, understanding and application of legislation related to the functions of Fleet Management.
- Awareness of contractor management and administration.
- Ability to use own initiative.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
