Would you like to work at the heart of a vibrant and diverse Council's decision-making processes, supporting a range of Member level meetings? If yes, then this is the role for you.
An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join our small, high profile, busy team, attending evening meetings and working closely with elected members and senior officers.
This is an ideal opportunity for an existing Democracy and Scrutiny Officer with experience to join us at the top of the grade or build on their experience through a progression scheme L5 to L7, with access to a wide range of opportunities including committee, scrutiny and elections work.
It's also a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting a great start to a career in local government or governance, who is willing to learn and advance through our Trainee progression scheme L3 to L4.
Trainee entrants will have access to the L5 to L7 progression scheme following the completion of a training period, subject to meeting the required competencies assessed against the progression scheme criteria applicable to the role.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
We are looking for someone who is co-operative, friendly and flexible and meets challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
You will be highly organised, able to plan ahead, be adept at managing demanding deadlines under pressure and have strong word processing and attention to detail skills.
Experience of clerking meetings in a similar environment is essential at the higher end of the grade and desirable at other levels.
A good team player who uses their own initiative and innovation to help us improve our systems and processes would be an asset.
Applicants for this public-facing post will need to demonstrate the ability to converse, and provide effective help or advice, fluently in spoken English.
If you are looking for a role to progress and expand your knowledge and feel this is the role for you, please apply today!
