Ealing Council are recruiting a Lead SEND Complaints and Tribunal Officer
for a permanent position starting as soon as possible
As the Disagreement Resolution and Tribunal Manager, you will work closely with Ealing Legal Services and will be responsible for supervising a SEND Tribunal and Complaints officer, leading on management of SEND appeal cases , resolution of disagreement and providing guidance to EHC Coordinators and the SEN Assessment Service on the law, caselaw and regulations pertaining to education and EHC Needs Assessment Process.
The main areas of responsibility will be:
- Taking the lead in working with our legal team to manage appeals to SENDIST (Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunals) providing instructions to legal services in relation to specific cases.
- Representing the Local Authority at Tribunal hearings and Mediations.
- Effective management of Tribunal appeals, complaints and disagreement resolution.
- Provide advice on complex case management

You will also be expected to play a central role in developing and improving the implementation of the Children and Families Act 2014 and relevant legislation.

We are based in offices near the centre of Ealing Broadway within minutes of bus, tube and train connections at Ealing Broadway station.
This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
