We are recruiting a 2 Senior Practitioners at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours


Contract Type: X1 -Permanent, Full Time

Contract Type: X1 - Full Time, Fixed term until 31st March 2027


Location: Ty Pawb / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

Team: Childrens Services

We are looking for a Senior Practitioner that wants to help make a positive difference to children’s lives, supporting children to remain cared for within their families.

As a Senior Practitioner in our Intensive Support Team, you would be joining an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and expertise with a range of professionals, including Social Workers, Support Workers, Specialist Health Visitors, Child Psychologist and Education Worker.

You need to be effective at building positive working relationships and committed to promoting a solution focused family approach to intervention, championing a strengths-based, what matters approach with families.

The successful candidate needs to be passionate about working with children, young people, and their families, and demonstrate leadership and role modelling to keep families together.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification.
  • Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice Programme within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1 April 2016).
  • Up to date knowledge of current legislation and statutory regulations, research and practice in relation to the relevant service area.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).

The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
