Salary: £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending) plus Market Premia (10% of top of grade)
Working Hours: 37 Hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role
As a Mechanic in Fleet Services your role will be to service and repair of vehicles and trailers in a safe, efficient, and economic manner. Some of your main duties will include.
• Driving and manoeuvring motor vehicles as necessary, recovering defective or damaged vehicles, carrying out the full range of technical checks and diagnostic test required for light & heavy goods, and passenger transport vehicles.
• Observing, recognising & reporting on mechanical and electrical vehicle, component, or systems defects, or impending failure, assessing, recording and/or costing the repair (as appropriate).
• Carrying out routine inspections, service and MOT of all vehicles in the LCC fleet according to the schedules issued by the Fleet & Workshop Manager, and accordance with prescribed quality standards, utilising specialist services as required.
• Examining vehicles, reporting verbally or in writing, (as dictated by Senior Mechanic) upon the condition, roadworthiness, and safety.
• Carrying out both mechanical and electrical repairs and/or adjustments as required, under the instruction of the Senior Mechanic to the prescribed quality standards.
• Interpreting & implementing technical service instruction data, and manufacturers’ modifications.
maintaining a personal tool kit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition.
• As the nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours, you will need to be prepared to work outside of normal working hours an undertake departmental standby rota responsibilities.
• You need to have a valid driving licence and able to provide own transport.

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
- Hold a Level 3 qualification in either Light or HGV Vehicle Mechanics or an equivalent alternative.
- Have experience working in a fleet workshop or garage.
- Understand H&S Policy and how it applies to you and staying safe.
- Have evidence of diagnosing mechanical faults and the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Have good written and verbal communications, liaison, and negotiation skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to plan, organise & prioritise work within tight time scales.
- Be able to respond confidently to customers and colleagues with understanding and diplomacy whilst maintaining an objective and professional stance. You can remain calm and positive in challenging circumstances, and you can cope with fluctuating workloads whilst meeting specified time deadlines, cost, and quality targets.
