    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Graduate Apprentice supporting the Council to deliver its new Council Plan and Enabling Barnsley Strategy.

    Working within the Finance Business Unit in the Operational Finance team one post in the Social Care Payments and Assessments team and one post in the Benefits and Taxation and Corporate Debt team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Council’s Section 151 Officer’s responsibilities are fulfilled and that services receive an efficient, effective and market leading financial support service that supports our ambitions for Barnsley 2030.

    The Council’s recently adopted People Strategy will act to support the successful candidate to adopt the culture and behaviours of a modern, agile, healthy, engaged, skilled and innovative workforce.

    About the role

    Reporting to the Finance Team Leader the Graduate Apprentice will provide excellent customer service and high quality, accurate financial support across a range of financial functions, contributing towards ensuring that the Council’s core financial systems are accurate, up to date and maintained and that financial processing of information is completed in a timely manner to support the delivery of the Council’s core priorities and support Directorates to deliver efficient and effective services.

    You will need to be familiar with Microsoft packages and have a keen eye for detail.

    Salary range

    • £25,583 - £25,989 per year
