As you may know, LGjobs was developed by Jobsgopublic in 2003 at the request of the Employers’ Organisation/LGA. In 2010, the LGA could no longer fund the venture and Jobsgopublic made the decision to carry on running LGjobs at our own expense in order to preserve the service.
Last year alone LGjobs carried 7,006 vacancies, attracting a monthly job-seeking audience of 185,000, and gaining 283,364 applications for local government organisations.
Since its launch, LGjobs has been free to use for all Local Authorities. We are now looking to raise funds for some much needed upgrades and improvements in order to continue to provide you and jobseekers with a high quality service. This will include upgrades to the servers, an improved vacancy upload system and various maintenance projects that will allow us to continue to meet your candidates’ expectations in a demanding labour market.
We recently ran a survey and the results showed that the favoured option by some way was a one-off annual donation, dependent on the size of your organisation. In order to continue using the service we will be asking unitary & county councils to donate £1000 per annum and borough councils to donate £750 per annum.
