This is an exciting time to work for the Marketing and Communications Team at Basildon District Council. The Basildon District is undergoing an enormous amount of change with investment taking place. The Council will be involved in improving residents satisfaction and helping to strengthen the local economy.

You will be at the forefront delivering communications to Council employees, residents and businesses to ensure they are abreast of changes. The Team will communicate the positive results achieved by the Council and raise awareness across the region and UK. The Department has undergone a major reorganisation creating a number of new posts, including Web and Publications Editor.

With drive and initiative you will assist the Head of Communications with the daily operation of the Marketing and Communications function. Specifically, you will manage the content of the Council’s website and publications, including the District Diary, Annual Report, Council Tax Leaflet and the District Guide. You will possess creative writing skills to develop and edit copy, but also planning and management skills to organise the print and distribution schedule.

You will hold a journalism qualification, such as an NCTJ certificate. You will be an experienced communications professional with substantial experience. It is essential that you have experience of writing and editing corporate websites and page layout. Knowledge of publishing software, including QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is required.

You will be willing to travel in order to meet the needs of the service and have the flexibility to attend meetings outside of the normal office hours as required.
