This is an exciting opportunity for a senior manager from a waste sector background to lead an in-house team in the delivery of new waste and recycling collection services across Wiltshire. In a high profile role, you will be responsible for staff, plant and resources operating from two operational depots located in Chippenham and Devizes and will help design and implement new waste collection and recycling services, working closely with the Head of Services and another Area Manager responsible for the south and west of the county.

At Wiltshire Council, we all play a part in creating safer and more resilient communities in which to live and work. The new recycling services we propose to implement will give each of our residents the tools they needs to manage their waste more effectively and help us move from 40% to more than 50% recycling.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Waste Collection Service in the north and east of the county, leading on the efficient and effective deployment of resources, and bringing fresh ideas and solutions to meet some of the many challenges that introducing new services may present. You will also be responsible for the management of operational and technical staff, effective budget monitoring and forecasting. You will design innovative team plans and lead your team in a positive, proactive manner.

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or with a relevant professional qualification or evidence of continual professional development, you will have a background in waste and working in a large, complex organization.

You will have proven budget control, leadership and project management abilities alongside experience of managing the successful implementation of new services and a large internal workforce. **
