Hertsmere Borough Council are looking for Refuse, Recycling and Street Cleansing Operatives providing, either individually, or as a member of a team, an efficient street cleansing and waste collection service within and around Hertsmere.
Main Duties
• To carry out cleansing duties including litter picking, emptying litter and dog waste bins, collection of fly tips, graffiti removal, waste and recycling collections, bin and box deliveries. All duties are directed by the Area Street Care Officer.
• To collect Containers of all types including Euro Bins, Wheelie Bins, recycling boxes and sacks from domestic or trade properties and load into the refuse vehicle.
• To empty the contents of containers into the vehicle, using mechanical lifting equipment. To return containers to the Boundary or designated spot after emptying.
• To be responsible for own safety and not endangering that of colleagues, others in the work place and the general public.
• Current U.K Driving Licence is desirable.
To apply you will need to have proven experience in manual handling and in Street Scene. You will be expected to walk approximately 10-12 miles per day and work at a consistent and acceptable pace.
