Oxford City Council currently has a fixed term vacancy for a Waste Operations Manager.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• To manage, maintain and develop an effective and efficient waste management service which delivers a responsive and effective service to the people of Oxford City.
• To be responsible for the operational frontline service, including domestic and commercial waste operations and associated management team. To drive change and efficiencies to the frontline services.
• To deliver the Recycling and Waste service according to the Council’s Code of Practice and within the agreed budget.

Essential CriteriaEducated to degree level or equivalent.

• Experience in supervisory management in local authority recycling and waste management operations.
• Success in operational, financial, resource and people management in relation to waste operations.
• The ability to work under pressure, multi-task and use initiative to keep business performance on track.
• Knowledge of best practice in waste management covering collection, disposal and recycling including aspects of relevant legislation and regulations.
• Experience in supervising, developing and motivating a large frontline workforce to deliver excellent services.
