Waste, recycling and streetscene services are amongst the most important Council Services to residents. Mole Valley has a good record of achievement in these areas with the District being amongst the cleanest in Surrey and a recycling rate that is the best in the South East. We are now looking for a new Waste and Streetscene Manager to take the service forward. There will be lots of challenges not least the new food waste collection service currently being introduced. You will be responsible for the day to day operation of the service and will have to work closely with the services three major contractors Biffa, Grundons and Veolia. However you will be supported by an experienced Environmental Services Manager who will work closely with you to ensure that the Council’s high standards are maintained. This is a high profile role that will be both challenging and rewarding.
To join us you will have demonstrable experience of successfully managing staff, contracts and partnership working accompanied with a clear understanding of Cleaner Neighbourhood and Waste Management legislation. You will have proven people management skills, the ability to produce written specifications and schedules of quantities and be able to learn, follow, interpret, enforce and communicate contracts, legislation, policies and procedures to customers. In addition you will have highly developed interpersonal skills in order to work confidently and effectively with senior officers, members and partners to enhance the Council’s reputation.
