Applications are invited for the post of Citysafe Violent Crime Reduction Manager, Citysafe Strategy Unit, Liverpool City Council (12 month fixed term contract to provide Maternity Leave cover for existing postholder). This is an excellent professional and personal development opportunity.

Liverpool City Council is a statutory partner in the Citysafe, Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership which is working to reduce crime and disorder and increase community safety in Liverpool. The work of partners has increased with the introduction of new statutory requirements including requirements to develop partnership responses in line with the Government’s Tackling Violent Crime Action Plan and associated delivery plans.
The Citysafe Violent Crime Reduction Manager will support the Head of Business Unit with delivery plans for specific violent crime issues including plans for tackling gun / gangs, domestic violence, hate crime, sexual violence, tackling alcohol related violence and promoting a safer night-time economy.
The post-holder will manage the support officers in a multi-agency team environment. An important aspect of the postholder’s work will be to ensure effective implementation of the City Council’s statutory duties and responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable leadership skills and a proven track record of managing complex projects with successful outcomes. He/she will have experience in multi-agency working in a community safety (or related) field, experience in developing and implementing multi-agency projects and plans with relevance to tackling violent crime and experience in staff management together with the management and evaluation of relevant initiatives related to tackling violent crime.
She/he will have a working knowledge and understanding of community safety related legislation including legislation on tackling violent crime. He/she will possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written), diplomacy skills and an ability to negotiate and influence decision makers at local, regional and national levels. She/he will be experienced in inter-agency working and liaison with a wide range of representatives including Elected Members and community representatives.

The post is a politically restricted post under the terms of the 1989 Local Government and Housing Act. This dictates that the postholder must seek the Council’s permission before taking up any additional appointments or positions. Police Checks and Clearance are also necessary in respect of this post.
This is a 12 Months Fixed Term Contract.
