The Learning Disabilities Support Team is an established, dynamic and supportive team based at The Uplands, we provide personal, practical and emotional support, advice and skills teaching to adults with Learning Disabilities enabling them to live in their own homes in the Bury area.

We need staff to assist people with all aspects of daily living, working in a person-centred way; promoting choice, inclusion and quality of life. Team members need to have integrity, insight and confidence and to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and support skills.

We have the following vacancies:

5 temporary posts (9 months), some full-time, some part-time.
1 temporary post (5 months), part-time, to cover maternity leave.
Various hours available , contracted hours to be determined by service need on appointment.

You will work shifts on a rota basis including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins, providing direct support and care to Service Users in their own homes and in the community, enabling and assisting them to live ordinary lives and make informed choices.

You must have previous experience working with a variety of people with Learning Disabilities and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by this Service User group.

For all posts, a social care NVQ level 3 is desirable and appointment will be subject to enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.

#The salary is currently Grade B, SCP 22-25 (£19,427 – £21,306 pro rata). It is proposed that a new pay structure will be introduced on 1 September 2009 that will replace the current pay arrangements. The proposed grade for this post under the new structure is Grade 9 with a proposed salary of £21,306 – £24,402 pro rata.
If you are successful you will be appointed within the current grade but it is proposed that your salary will change to the new grade when the new pay structure is implemented on 1 September 2009.
