An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Planning Policy Team for a Temporary Planning Policy Officer. The team deals with a variety of planning policy work, as well as general correspondence and enquiries from members of the public about planning policy matters. The Team is currently working on preparing a Local Plan.

The successful applicant will be required to assess national and regional policies, produce thorough and concise written reports on such policy, help produce policy documents for the Local Plan, undertake and report on consultation events, and undertake research including site appraisals and data analysis. The candidate must be competent in the use Microsoft Word and Excel. The role also requires the use of the Council’s planning systems including consultation software and the GIS system, for which basic training will be given.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in planning or a related subject, and have some experience of planning policy or planning research work.

The position is full-time, 37 hours per week for a temporary period to the 31st October 2013. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.
