TEMPORARY GROUP ACCOUNTANT

(MATERNITY COVER FOR UP TO 12 MONTHS)

Scale E10 £32,800 – £35,430 (subject to Job Evaluation)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Accountancy Section on a temporary basis to cover for maternity leave for up to 12 months.

Reporting directly to the Chief Accountant you will lead a small team that provides a wide range of accounting and financial management services to the Resources Directorate. You will also lead on the closure of the Council’s final accounts and the production of the Annual Statement of Accounts.

You will have significant accounting and financial management experience in a public sector finance environment, preferably gained in local government and possess an AAT or CCAB qualification. You should have experience in preparing budgets and budget monitoring and have the technical knowledge and experience to be able to lead on the closure of the Council’s final accounts. It would also be desirable if you have knowledge of VAT and Insurance matters.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 15 September 2010 and interviews will be held the week commencing 27 September 2010
