An exciting vacancy has arisen within our Dog Control Service for the post of Dog Warden (12 months temporary contract). The Council is committed to providing first class services and the successful candidate will be able to build upon the achievements of our progressive Dog Control Section.

You will be responsible for the routine patrolling of the Borough for stray dogs, and in conjunction with the Enforcement Officer, investigate dog related complaints including dangerous dogs and dog fouling. You will also be required to take action against litter offences.

You will also have the responsibility to organise and present our popular education programme, delivering the message of responsible dog ownership to primary schools and other interested organisations throughout the Borough.

The post requires recent experience in the handling of dogs and dealing with the public, however you must also possess the willingness and motivation to be able to work on your own, as well as part of a team. The successful candidate will also preferably be able to demonstrate their direct experience in dog control matters and the gathering of evidence for legal proceedings, as well as suitable presentation skills.

For an informal chat please regarding this post, please telephone Paul Charlson, Public Protection and Licensing Manager on 01695 585246.

Please note that if you have not been invited to interview within 4 weeks of the closing date you should assume you have not been successful at the shortlisting stage.
