This is a temporary role to provide cover for an internal secondment. In this role you will be responsible for assisting applicants on the Council’s Housing Register, giving advice and assistance to people with housing problems. You will also deputise for the Housing Options Coordinator CBL in their absence and supervise the work of CBL Housing Options Assistants.

Educated to ‘A’ level standard (or equivalent) with previous experience in a similar role, you will have a good understanding of Choice Based Lettings including homelessness and current social housing issues. General knowledge of Housing legislation especially the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Act 2002 is also required.

Experience of undertaking interviews and working with the elderly and computer literacy are also required for this post. A relevant housing qualification would be an advantage.

You would be expected to be able to deal with a range of situations, such as providing advice to people in housing need and using initiative to offer solutions to problems. This would on occasion entail investigating and utilising alternative housing options that may be available to an applicant by using other housing providers, in situations whereby the Council are unable to directly assist the applicant with housing.
