Leading the way forward for Children’s Services in North Somerset

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to manage our Community Family Team within North Somerset.

Our Community Family Teams are established teams of social workers, family support key workers and young people support workers who, together work in multi-agency teams to support vulnerable children and young people.

The teams have high aspirations for the children and young people they work with and a strong commitment to enabling our young people to achieve their ambitions.

We are looking for a team leader who is passionate about the work, confident and can use their experience to lead and develop the work of the team and are interested in supporting their team to put children at the centre of our work and ensure the child’s voice is heard. You will be social work qualified, experienced, enthusiastic, ambitious and knowledgeable and be at the heart of delivering Children’s Services in North Somerset. You’ll take responsibility for the standards across your team, provide effective management and leadership. You will plan and deliver quality and performance improvement across the service. You will know about the cases your team are working on, in particular high risk and complex cases, and will monitor outcomes for children and families in your area.

In North Somerset we pride ourselves on what we offer our front line workers:

  • low caseloads
  • good management and strong team spirit
  • regular supervision
  • extensive training
  • mobile working (access to ipads and laptops)
  • flexible working
  • safety calls for lone workers

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

North Somerset Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all sections of our community regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, belief or sexual orientation. North Somerset Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
