Job Description:
Contract: Permanent – Full Time – 35 hours
Salary: £32,532 – £35,055 (PO2)
Location: Town Hall Extension, Argyle Street, London, WC1H 8NP
Team: Culture and Environment Directorate – Environment and Transport – Sustainability Team
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sustainability professional to join Camden Council’s high performing Corporate Sustainability Team. We have recently gone through a process of change to refocus our service delivery on the issues where the council and our partners can have the biggest impact, with the overall aim of helping Camden become a low carbon and low waste borough.
We are looking for an exceptional individual to help drive forward our new 10 year borough-wide strategy – Green Action for Change.
You will lead on environmental sustainability projects and support the development and implementation of the Council’s sustainability strategies and policies with a particular focus on flood risk management and climate change adaptation. Working across a number of different teams and in partnership with external agencies, you will maintain and develop the relationships necessary to drive forward these projects while ensuring value for money and a high level of community engagement and satisfaction.
You will also be required to act as a key point of contact both internally and externally, providing presentations, briefings and advice on the environmental sustainability issues relevant to your post.
Key Requirements
Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Degree in a relevant discipline or the equivalent is desirable
- Sound knowledge and understanding of environmental sustainability policy and practice in particular with regards to climate change mitigation and adaptation in an urban setting
Skills/Behaviours:
- Excellent project management skills
- Good analytical and judgement skills to shape and drive improvement within the team
- Ability to develop strategies and policies
- Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills at all levels both in writing and verbally
Experience:
- Experience of developing and delivering projects to successful conclusions
- Experience of project/contract management
- Experience of working in multi-agency partnerships
