Hours: 21 Hours p/week

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Substance Misuse Training Officer to set up and deliver a new community drug and alcohol training programme for practitioners and volunteers working with young people and families. The aim of the post is to increase the knowledge of alcohol and drugs, the associated harms, the legal framework, and the services available to improve outcomes for young people and families affected. The training and capacity building programme will have an emphasis on working with community based groups and organisations to increase the engagement of young people and families from diverse backgrounds.

This is a new post that has been created to contribute to Islington’s Alcohol Harm Reduction plan to support partnership objectives around substance misuse education, prevention and early intervention.

The post will be based in the Islington Young People’s Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service, within Children’s Social Care in Islington Children’s Services.

The successful candidate will need significant experience and knowledge of substance misuse in relation to children and young people, and of developing and delivering training in community settings. The candidate will also need exemplary skills in forging and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders including partner agencies and community, voluntary and faith organisations to develop new training and capacity building opportunities.
