We are looking for team players who are committed to the principles of waste minimisation / recycling, improving the cleanliness of the Borough and getting the job right first time. You will be joining the Council’s highly successful Waste Services Team, building on the outstanding achievements to date and help drive through further improvements in our excellent service delivery.

Applicants for the post must be capable of working on their own initiative and achieving challenging daily workloads. You must be physically capable of walking long distances in all weathers whilst pushing a hand cart, emptying waste receptacles, sweeping the footway/highway and litter picking grass verges and general open spaces.

As part of the Waste Services Team, you must be physically capable of working alongside various waste collection vehicles, manually handling waste and lift, push and pull heavy waste receptacles on a frequent and repetitive basis and clear fly tipped waste off public / private land.

You must also be capable of driving a variety of non HGV collection vehicles around the Borough, be flexible in your approach to duties but above all have a positive attitude to the job and a willingness to make a difference in improving the quality of the local environment.

The hours of work are 37 hours per week, 7.30am to 3.24pm Monday to Friday. In order to provide continuity of service to residents, there will also be a need to work on Bank Holidays and some evening and weekend working will also be required on a rota basis.
