This fixed term post is grant funded through partnership working and based within the Neighbourhoods Directorate, Leisure Services. The successful candidate will set up, co-ordinate and develop wheeled sports activities and programmes that are designed to engage, enthuse and empower young people aged between 11 and 25 years of age. To be short-listed for interview applicants must possess the following:-
• Working knowledge of a variety of wheeled sports and their safe operation.
• A sports coaching/leadership qualification preferably in a wheeled sport.
• Recognised First Aid qualification.
• Proven practical experience of delivering sports development activity safely and enjoyably.
• Proven practical experience of working in or with the voluntary sport sector.
• Proven practical experience of co-ordinating budgets, accounting for and collecting fees and charges.
• Understanding of sports development work, especially relating to young people.
• Ability to motivate sports volunteers.
• Good verbal and written communication skills (i.e. ability to write reports, speaking at meetings, presentations etc.).
• Good organisation skills (i.e. construct own work programmes, supervision of volunteers and sessional coaches).
• Ability to work to competing deadlines both within a team environment and on own initiative.
• Commitment to equality in sport and active recreation.
• Willingness to work unsociable hours.
• Current full driving licence with a Category B entitlement for an aggregate period of not less than 2 years and the applicant is aged 21 or over to drive a mobile project vehicle (7.5 ton vehicle).
