LEISURE AND CULTURAL SERVICES
SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
37 Hours per week NS 7 (SCP 22-24), £19,427 – £20,652 p.a.
The Sports Development Unit is looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join the team.
As part of the Leisure and Cultural Services section based at Kelham Hall in Newark, you will develop a wide range of sport and physical activity participation opportunities. The local delivery of national initiatives, leisure centre provision, Sports Grant Aid Scheme and marketing of the team’s work areas are just some of the projects you’ll be involved in.
An NVQ Level 3, Sport and Recreation or equivalent, NGB sports coaching awards and an emergency first aid certificate will provide a sound understanding of the way sports development works. A degree in sport, leisure or recreation is desired but not essential.
You’ll need to use your initiative, be flexible, able to work in challenging situations, often to tight deadlines, and ready to work evenings and weekends when required. The successful candidate will also prepare reports for management and partners for which IT skills will be required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and website design and development
So if you have an understanding of the Sports and Leisure Industry including the sports development continuum and national and local sports development initiatives, this could be just the post you’re looking for. If you are able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, have good organisational skills, and the ability to work unsupervised using your initiative yet still be an integral part of the team, you could be just the person we’re looking for.
THIS POST WILL REQUIRE AN ENHANCED CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU CHECK
For an informal discussion please call Alexis Knock, Sports Development Manager on 01636 655709.
